The SOZIM Team proudly congratulates Dr Mahlaga J Molepo on successfully completing and graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Information Science.

Dr Molepo, who currently serves as an Academic Manager at SOZIM, achieved this significant academic milestone with a doctoral thesis titled, Exploring the Philosophical Underpinnings that Inform the Establishment of Community Libraries in Rural Communities in South Africa. His research was conducted under the supervision of Professor Maned Mhlongo.

The study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on community libraries and rural development by examining the philosophical foundations that shape the establishment and sustainability of community libraries in South Africa’s rural communities.

Reflecting on his academic journey, Dr Molepo encouraged students to remain resilient in the face of challenges. “Students who achieve success are not those who never fail, but those who refuse to quit,” he said. He further advised students to stay focused, trust the process, and exercise patience throughout their studies.

“At the end of the journey, remain humble and continue learning,” he added.

The SOZIM Team commends Dr Molepo for his dedication, perseverance, and scholarly contribution to the field of Information Science. His achievement serves as an inspiration to current and future students pursuing academic excellence.

The SOZIM Team wishes Dr Molepo continued success in his academic and professional endeavours and looks forward to his future contributions to research, teaching, and community development.
